Posted by norgams-I at April 20, 2007, 3:20 pmMorning everyone!
Norski thanks for the update regarding the whereabouts of our “blogmates”. Think they are just so pre-occupied with daily routines or maybe still immersing and enjoying the summer vacation with their families. Talking ’bout vacation, my son AJPER will be coming back tomorrow with his Papa Jun from an extended stay in Nueva Ecija. April is harvest time in central Luzon, being the “rice granary” almost all fields are due for harvest, this we did last week, i just came back earlier to Manila to attend to some client calls. My two “lovers” are still in NE, Jun doing the palay drying and Ajper maximizing his pool bathing experience. Pool bathing, kay wa may dagat sa NE puro resort. Dili man nako paligoon sa resort kay daghan tawo and the water is not flowing like in Timoga, gikan lang sa pump ang ila tubig. We had to clean & made little repairs to an old plastic pool that was just in our stockroom for Ajper’s use. The pool can accommodate 4 people, in fact when i was there last week, my son together with 2 of his cousins plus me nagbabad lang sa pool for 3 hours!
Just this morning when i talked to Jun, he said that Ajper is fast catching the skincolor of the children there. Medyo dark na kay makaitom man ang ilang tubig didto.
Jun & I got some pictures during the “pa-giik” last week. I will sent the pix next week to you Norski.
Ajper experienced the “pamumulot ng palay” right in the middle of the rice field. He was just following & mimicking with sincerity what almost all the farmers’ children are doing there, mamunit ug palay nga mga mabilin.
Both Jun & I were so glad that an early age Ajper is learning and experiencing the real life of a farmer. He was sweating excessively because of the heat, April his nanny had to bring his water bag all around the rice fields just to keep him from dehydrating. He manages to keep all the palay stalks on his little hands and finally when he already had more than his hands can handle he (without any promptings) gave his harvest to my mother-in-law. Ajper who is used to giving me freshly picked flowers could have thought that the bunch of palay looks like a bunch of flowers. What a child! Praise God for what He is doing to our son.
Jun & I are really trying to follow the principle we learned straight from the bible…”Train up a child in the way he should go, (and in keeping with his individual gift or bent), when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6(Amplified).
This is the challenge we (Jun & I) have and are determined to accomplish with God’s endless grace.
I hope that this triggers your sharing with us your experiences with your sons & daughters. I love to get learnings from the so called “experienced” parents. I’m calling on Ruth Cabs, Eva, Honey, Marivel & all the other Mom’s & Daddy’s. Let’s maximize this technology and be CONNECTED!
BEST SUNDAY WORSHIP TO ALL!
Wow Jud.. im amazed at you!.. just few months back not too long ago, u were hesitant 2 use ds blog… and now ur into it!… wow, congrats!… hehehe
u know what? it’s soo nice dat ur son has a “probinsiya” to spent his vacation and young years. u know, pag-abot sa panahon, it is sooo nice and heartwarming recalling childhood spent in simple, natural, wonderful ways. for me, it’s a good thing that my brothers and sisters grew up with memories of childhood summer vacation spent in serene, beautiful nature na nature Bohol - with our Lolos and Lolas, cousins and other relatives. It is also heartwarming that even our childhood toys and games are simple but fun!… really enjoyable.. spent among us and/or with neighbor friends… u know, those patintero, shatung, apas-apas, sinelas-lata in the street… koti (by the boys in the area).. takyan.. balay-balay made of mga habol nga gihikot sa mga chairs (if we’re inside the house)… there were times when my brothers - young as they are - namanday jud ug mga kahoy for a balay-balay in our backyard and we would cook! as in cook rice and sinabaw nga kalamungggay!.. wow, lami kaayo.. hehehe… my brothers - in their elementary grades - especially my younger brother - would make a “pusil-pusil” made of wood!… we really relish those simple childhood toys and games we had… and when there’s a downpour of rain - wow!.. mangaligo sa ulan bisan ga-kurog kurog sa katugnaw!… hahaha… it’s soo different these days.. all those high-tech gadgets.. computers which the children are into as games or toys..not to mention all the pollution and very small space in the yard, and a lot of people in the neighborhood that u dont even know ur neighbor’s name!…. If i were to choose, i prefer my children to experience the simple but really enriching childhood - spent simply and wonderfully especially during school break… .. we really had fond memories of those days in my childhood.. My brothers and sisters- whenever we had a chance talking about them- would always have pleasant smiles and laughter recalling those times… ahhh… nice, good, old days
[oy!.. am not dat old pa ha?!.. hehehe]
Norski,
You’ve got a great memory about all the names of the games we used to play!
You know what, Johnson & Johnson is now reviving the larong pinoy in different schools. Actually it started last April 25,2006 when we had a launching with Unilever. There’s this group who tried to sell their idea to multi-nationals, think Johnson went for it thats why it made on the print, tv & radio.
Ako ni i memorize para akong ma hinay-hinay tudlo kang Ajper.
It’s so true that our days were totally different from today, we were both physically & mentally activated. Children of today if not involved in a physically stimulating game or routine (like karate, kick boxing, etc) would likely choose to be in front of the computer. Ang mga tudlo ra ang sigeg lihok ug ang mata. Busa daghan na kaayo obese.
May we continue to be very conscious that our bodies are the living temples of God!
Thanks for recalling.

Hello All!
Wow! This is so nostalgic! This is my second hour surfing the site - seeing familiar faces… Eva, Judith (Judah), Marivic, Thelma Luna, Nora, Jose Marcos, Eugenio, Gladys, Ruth. I noticed that the latest post is August 2007. Where’s everybody? I enjoyed the pictures of your get-together, Ruth’s family pics, Maricar’s World Travel, Nora’s White Rafting Adventure…what can I say - the faces with the familiar smiles bring back high school memories. Just read somewhere that Ruth Guzman is somewhere in California? Well, I am here in Washington State. I still touch base with my relatives in CDO and Bukidnon. My last trip back to the PI was in 2001? I stopped by in Burgos to see some friends - and stayed a few days in Malaybalay, Bukidnon and hopped onto Cebu then back to the USA. Looking forward to hearing from you guys and gals! God Bless!

Happy Saturday to All! It’s early morning here in the West Coast of America. Just called Judah’s cell, but no answer. Probably sound asleep by now.
Hello to All! Glad to see new posts from Judah and Norski. How’s the family? How’s work? How’s life? I finally found my Jerusalem, Ms. Judah. The Lord has blessed me with an inexpressible and glorious joy with my relationship with Him, my husband Mike, my daughter Stacey, and my career. My daughter is 22 years old (my one and only child) , and is now finishing her last class in Rome, Italy and will graduate from the University of Washington in June 14, 2008. Time flies so fast! I have lived here in the US for 20 years. I am active in my community as a mentor, especially at my home church, the Shepherdâs Will Ministries International, a multi-cultural church ministered by a Pastor from General Santos, Cotabato. The pastor and his wife are church planters â I believe from Manila. They are both theology masters’ graduate from there. I am busy these days, work-wise and my ministry - mentorship and bible teaching but the “Lord is my provision and He gives me the strength and the wisdom to do all these things and to shine before men.”
I might be able to visit Philippines next year - May 2009. I will keep you posted on this plan. It is still on pencil.
May we see more postings here from the rest of the class. I will sort out pictures for upload soon.
Take care everyone! Be the “salt of the earth and the light of the world.”
